Overview
This guide will walk you through the steps to complete a Product Mapping, which is required to sync Products to Marketplaces.
Marketplace Mapper
- Go to Products and Mappings from the left navigation.
- Under the Select Channel dropdown, select the Marketplace you want to map categories for.
- The Source Categories column will show all unique categories across your product range.
- Under the Marketplace Categories column you can either:
- Type a keyword and select it from the dropdown.
- Click on the Category tree icon and select the categories until you get to the last level of categorisation.
- Repeat the process for all Source Categories until all are mapped.
- Repeat the above process for each Marketplace under the Select Channel dropdown.
- If your Source Categories is not specific enough or you need to change it to another attribute, you can select a Rule to either build your Source Category or map it to another attribute.
- You can filter on the Source Categories by keyword.
- Once you have selected on Marketplace category, there is a Copy icon. Once clicked, there is a Paste icon to apply the same category to other Source Categories.
Individual Product Category Overwrites

- Go to Products and Mappings from the left navigation.
- Under the Select Channel dropdown, select the integration you want to map categories for.
- Click Export and wait for the export to be available for download.
- Open in Excel.
- sourceValue – Unique list of categories from the source eCommerce system.
- groupId – This needs to be the value from the Categories tab – Column A.
- Add another column to the Mappings tab – Category Name to Column D.
- Select the column and go to Data and Data Validation
- Select Allow -> List and under Source click the button.
- Go to the Categories tab and click on column B to select all category options.
- Click the button again and OK.
- In Column C2 copy this formula into =VLOOKUP(D2,Categories!A:B,2,FALSE)
- Drag this formula to all cells.
- Map all Source Categories to a marketplace category.
- Select Column C and right click, Copy.
- Select Column C again and right click Paste Values
Category Importing
IMPORTANT – Please ensure you have Pasted the GroupIDs in the previous step before importing.- Go to back to the Category Mapping within the portal ensure the right service is selected from the dropdown.
- Click the Import button.
- Choose File and select where the spreadsheet has been saved.
- Click Import and this will start the process of mapping. This may take a few minutes.
Category attributes – Summary
Category attributes are attributes that specific to a Category of a Marketplace. This means that attributes will change between categories. Outcome of this is to have a view on attributes required for publishing products and if any additional enrichment is required in the Source product system. Please review the Integration Guide under the section Mappings to see if the Marketplace requires this or not.- Go to Resources & Taxonomies from the left navigation.
- Click View on Marketplace you want to review attributes for.
- Go to Attributes tab.
- Copy all groupID’s from Column C of the bulk category mapping spreadsheet and filter on categoryID.
- Click on the Bulk button and paste all groupID’s into the box and Search.
- Export all attributes.
- This will export attributes + values.
- Open the spreadsheet in excel.
- Go to Data and remove duplicates
- Unselect All and tick Category ID and Attribute ID.
- This will leave you with unique attributes across the categories mapped, with an example value. The Mandatory column will show if the attribute is required (TRUE) or optional (FALSE).
- Review all attributes to see if:
- You have attributes in your source product system already for mapping.
- Need / want to add custom attributes in your source product system to map and enrich your product listing.
- At the very least, ensure you are able to map the Mandatory attributes.
Category attributes – Enrichment
- If there are attributes that you want / do not have a custom attribute for, create this in your source product system and add values before mapping.
- This is normally in the form of a custom product attribute field.
Category Attributes – Mapping
- Go to Products and Mappings from the left navigation.
- Under the Select Channel dropdown, select the Marketplace you want to map attributes for.
- Go to the Category Attributes tab.
- Select the Category you want to map attributes for from the dropdown.
- Click Add an Attribute to see the attributes available to map for this category. If the attribute has an * next to it, it means it is a required attribute.
- Select the attribute and click Map
- Under the Source Attribute column, select the attribute you want to map to the Marketplace attribute.
- Next click Map Values
- Here you will see a list of all Source values to map to Marketplace values.
- Map each value as you have done for Category Mapping.
Product Attributes – Mapping
For some Marketplaces they have an additional step for attributes that are not Category specific. Please review the Integration Guide under the section Mappings to see if the Marketplace requires this or not.- Go to Products and Mappings from the left navigation.
- Under the Select Channel dropdown, select the Marketplace you want to map categories for.
- Select the Product Attributes tab.
- Click Add an Attribute to see the attributes available to map for this category. If the attribute has an * next to it, it means it is a required attribute.
- Select the attribute and click Map
- Under the Source Attribute column, select the attribute you want to map to the Marketplace attribute.
- Next click Map Values
- Here you will see a list of all Source values to map to Marketplace values.
- Map each value as you have done for Category Mapping.
- NOTE – If the attribute value is the same across all products, you can define a default value.You can also Forward Mappings and if there is an exact match between your Source and Marketplace value then you will not have to map the value.
Republish Products
Once you have completed the above steps you will need to republish the products for the enrichment of mappings to take effect. Follow the steps below on how to do this:- Click the Complete button.
- Tick the channel(s) you want to republish based on the mappings you have completed and click Republish.
